Strength, Function, and Beauty— Restored

A dental crown is one of the most versatile restorations in dentistry. It can save a compromised tooth, protect one that's been through significant treatment, anchor a bridge, complete an implant— and in the right hands, create an aesthetic result that's genuinely beautiful. At Elevated Dentistry, Dr. Bottorff approaches every crown with the same precision and artistry he brings to all of his restorative and aesthetic work— because every crown, regardless of where it sits in your mouth, deserves to be done with precision and care.

The Art of the Crown

Patients often think of crowns as purely functional— something you get when a tooth is broken or damaged. But crowns are also one of dentistry's most powerful aesthetic tools. Multi-unit anterior crowns, placed for cosmetic purposes, require the same meticulous shade matching, proportion planning, and lab collaboration as porcelain veneers. The standard is identical because the visibility is identical.

At Elevated Dentistry, crowns are ceramic— whether milled in-office using our same-day crown mill for qualifying cases, or crafted by skilled ceramists at some of the best dental labs in the country for cases requiring a higher level of aesthetic detail or multiple units. Dr. Bottorff determines which approach is right for your specific situation, and either way, the result is a restoration that becomes part of your smile.

For high aesthetic cases, we go to the lab— because that's what the case requires. The same lab relationships and ceramist partnerships that produce our veneer and smile makeover results are behind our crown work as well.

When a Crown Is the Right Solution

  • Damaged or Decayed Teeth When decay or injury has compromised too much tooth structure for a filling to address effectively, a crown restores full form and function.
  • Cracked or Fractured Teeth A crown encases the entire visible tooth, protecting a crack from spreading and restoring full function.
  • After Root Canal Treatment Root canal-treated teeth are significantly more fragile and require a crown for long-term protection.
  • Anchoring a Dental Bridge Crowns on the adjacent teeth support and secure a bridge in place.
  • Completing a Dental Implant The custom crown placed on an implant is the visible, functional portion of the final restoration.
  • Large or Failing Restorations When an existing filling is failing or too large to replace reliably, a crown provides a more stable solution.
  • Aesthetic Transformation Multi-unit ceramic crowns can reshape, recolor, and redefine the appearance of teeth— with results as beautiful as any cosmetic procedure.

Precision at Every Stage

A great crown starts with precise preparation. Dr. Bottorff uses digital impressions with the iTero scanner to capture accurate measurements, takes care with shade selection and aesthetic planning, and works with either our in-office crown mill or carefully selected lab ceramists— whichever best serves the case. Before cementation, Dr. Bottorff ensures fit, occlusion, and aesthetics are taken into account with precision— because a crown should feel completely natural from the moment it's placed.

What to Expect

For lab-fabricated crowns, treatment typically involves two appointments. At your first visit, Dr. Bottorff will prepare the tooth, take digital impressions, and place a temporary restoration. Once your custom crowns are ready, you'll return for your placement appointment— with careful adjustments to ensure everything is right before cementation.

For certain cases, same-day crowns are available through our in-office crown mill— no second appointment needed. Dr. Bottorff will advise which approach is right for your specific situation.
